Big things are happening at Lincoln Hospital —
Little things too!

Our nurses are compassionate, fun and up-to-date on the
latest trends in children’s care.

At Lincoln Hospital, children are as dear to us as they are to you, and we show our affection for little ones with the TLC of our Red Wagon and our Snuggle Bears.

Our staff calms the nerves of sick children by taking them for tests, or surgery, in style — kid style. The Red Wagon takes a youngster’s mind off the fear and makes them feel at home.

The ladies of the Lincoln Hospital Auxiliary also keep a well-stocked treasure chest of Snuggle bears to give to our youngest patients. Knowing a “friend” is going through the same struggles or sickness can make a hospital stay to much easier. Our professional staff works hard to explain procedures and give kids confidence while in our care.

For our parents

Lincoln Hospital offers comprehensive health care for children newborn through adult. Parents are encouraged to be a proactive part of that care. Our staff listens to your concerns and family needs and integrates them into their care plan whenever possible.

All Lincoln Hospital nurses have specialized pediatric training and new staff is expected to receive training within one year of employment in the following disciplines…

  •  PALS — Pediatric Advanced Life Support
  •  Neonatal Resuscitation

We’re so committed to kids, that two of our staff members are PALS instructors.

Our family physicians and mid-level health care providers at the Davenport, Wilbur and Reardan clinics specialize in “kid-care” and offer all aspects of pediatrics in their practices. They have a heart for kids, and can even treat mom, dad, grandpa and grandma!

  Recreational Therapy

Recreation Therapy provides services to patients and Long Term Care residents who are having problems that may be helped with one-on-one intervention from a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist.

The Recreation Therapist may work with individuals to help them regain abilities in a variety of areas such as communication, cognition or fine motor control of their hands. By using such methods as visualization, meditation and other techniques, Recreational Therapy can help individuals with pain, anxiety or coping problems.

In addition to our long term care residents, Recreational Therapy is also a great help to acute care surgical patients, including our very youngest population.

Being in the hospital and having medical procedures can be very frightening for anyone, especially children. Our therapist can work with kids to prepare them for surgery or other procedures through use of therapeutic play. RT can also aid children adjust to a lengthy hospital stay. Some residents and patients have changes in their physical or mental ability that impacts their ability to participate in a favorite leisure activity. The Recreational Therapist can work with these individuals to adapt so they can continue to enjoy that interest or, if necessary, find a replacement leisure activity that can fulfill some of the same rewards as their favored activity.
