Nursing Assistants Graduates Fall 2007

Lincoln Hospital proud of grads

Davenport – Congratulations were in order recently for the class of nursing assistants graduating from the NA-C training program at Lincoln Hospital.

“If it takes a village to raise a child, it takes a Long Term Care resident to make a nursing assistant,” said instructor Beth Wood, RN, who enlisted three residents to help train this class. The mentors spent time with students daily to help them understand the importance of communication with the men and women living at the nursing home and how to best serve their needs.

Administrator Tom Martin welcomed the grads to the provider team and reminded them of their importance to the residents. “You have a very important place here because you have direct contact with the people who call this home every day. They see you more than they see the physician, which puts you in the most valuable spot in the industry.”

Graduates include Carolee Dixon of Harrington, Marlena Roseborough of Davenport and Debra Burbank or Reardan. The three-week intensive NA-C training course includes both classroom and hands-on instruction by registered nurses.

Lincoln Hospital has offered all graduates employment in its Long Term Care wing. With a hope of offering local employment opportunities and building a caring community atmosphere at the nursing home, the hospital offers this class four times each year.
