   A highly progressive dentist, Dr. Hernas is not only trained in traditional dental techniques, but has expanded his practice to include painless laser dentistry.

    Laser Dentistry

   For general procedures, Dr. Hernas can use a Waterlase® dental laser. This amazing piece of technology uses laser-energized water to prepare teeth. A combination of laser energy and water spray creates what is called “HYDROKINETIC” energy, which is patented by the Biolase Corporation. The FDA approved this technique in 1998.

   Waterlase significantly improves patient comfort, as 98.5 percent of patients treated with it say they feel no pain at all. There is no heat, no vibration or high pitched sound — just a gentle tapping noise as the teeth are being treated. As the Waterlase is painless, no injections or drilling are needed in most cases.

  Laser Whitening

   To permanently whiten teeth, Dr. Hernas uses the LaserSmile. This state-of-the-art system uses a special gel coupled with gentle laser technology to instantly whiten and brighten teeth for a dazzling smile — with no pain or discomfort.

• Hernas Dental is located in the Lincoln Medical Center at 100 3rd Street (across the parking lot from Lincoln Hospital ) in Davenport , Wash.

• Hours are 10 am-5:30 pm Monday and Tuesday, and 7:00 am-2:30 pm Wednesday and Thursday

About Dr. Hernas

  A native of Davenport , Dr. Hernas dreamed of becoming an orthodontist as a young boy. Not far from that goal, he attended dental school at the University of Washington (Go Huskies!), then went into private practice in the Seattle area.

  Feeling a calling to use his skills for a higher purpose, Dr. Hernas became a dental missionary. He and his family spent three years in Zaire, instructing local nurses in caring for and educating the people of remote African villages about oral diseases. Fleeing for their lives during political unrest, the Hernas family moved back to Washington state and found their way back home to Davenport .

  Here, Dr. Hernas joined the practice of Dr. Douglas Teel, where the two worked diligently together to serve the people of Lincoln County until Dr. Teel’s death in November of 2002. Today, Dr. Hernas is carrying on the practice and is grateful for the friendship and professional integrity of Dr. Teel.

  Outside of work, Dr. Hernas enjoys music and theater. He not only plays guitar and sings in the Trinity Praise Band, but has taken on many musical theater roles for Harrington’s very own K/P Productions, and works together with other regional theatrical endeavors.
